Rugby League Betting with William Hill
Why not try betting on rugby league? There are matches from the Super League, Australia’s National Rugby League (NRL), State of Origin Games, and much more.
We’ve got rugby league betting markets and offers throughout the season. So, are you ready to lace up your boots and take to the field?
Super League betting markets
Super League is made up of 12 teams, most of which are based in the north of England, plus French side Catalans Dragons.
Leeds Rhinos are the most successful side in Super League history, having won the Grand Final eight times.
After 29 games, the team that tops the table wins the League Leaders Shield. Then, the Play-Offs begin, as the sides battle it out to reach the showpiece Grand Final, usually played at Old Trafford.
Throughout the season, we offer a range of betting odds and markets. Plus, there’s the chance to bet ante-post and in-play.
Bet on the Challenge Cup
Domestically, not only is there the Super League to look forward to, there’s also the Challenge Cup.
This competition allows amateur teams to take part in the first round. But the Super League teams are seeded, so they don’t enter the tournament until the later stages.
NRL and State of Origin
When it comes to rugby league in Australia, there’s no let-up in the number of markets on offer.
Bet on teams including the Penrith Panthers, Brisbane Broncos, Sydney Roosters and St George Illawarra Dragons, as they all compete to win the NRL Grand Final. Plus, you can bet on teams securing a top-four or top-eight finish.
Don’t forget the State of Origin series too – an annual three-game series between Queensland and New South Wales.
Rugby League World Cup betting
Every four years, we offer World Cup betting odds, where the likes of England, Australia and New Zealand are likely to feature heavily.
Rugby league betting markets
For rugby league matches, we can offer around 60 betting markets per game.
The most common is the 80-minute market, where you pick a team to win the match.
How does rugby league handicap betting work?
If a match looks one-sided, you might expect one team to be emphatic winners. This is where rugby league handicap betting comes in.
When there is a clear favourite in the 80-minute market, the handicap effectively gives the outsider a head start. The handicap bar can vary from six points to 14 points or more.
So, if you back the favourites to win -14 points, they must win by 15 or more points for your bet to pay out.
Rugby league player market betting odds
There are plenty of betting markets on individual player performances.
These can include try-scorer markets, based on a player to score first, anytime or last.
We also offer markets on players to score two or more tries and to score a hat-trick. This is something to consider when they face weaker opposition.
Some positions are more productive than others when it comes to scoring tries, but that doesn’t mean other players can’t have a big impact on a game. This could be through accurate kicking, line-breaking runs or a high number of tackles.
Players with the skills to impress could be candidates for rugby league bets on the man of the match.
Tips to bet on rugby league
Team news is key to seeing who’s fit and if there are any major injuries or suspensions before the game which could sway the odds.
Research whether a team is in good form, is on a losing streak or whether they are good travellers.
Look out for anystandout players who have scored a high number of tries in recent games.
Even the weather forecast could play a part. If it’s due to rain, then a wet ball is harder to handle, which could see a higher number of unforced errors and turnovers.
